Last week we had the privilege to get to see a part of our nation's history. The B-29 Superfortress was a long-range, heavy bomber flown in WW2. Out of the 2766 built only about 40 remain today. There is only 1 that can still fly. One of the most famous of the B-29's was the Enola Gay.
We got to get up close to one of the B-29's. The Air Power Tour came to the Texas Air and Space Museum in Amarillo. We got to get into the aircraft. We got to look out the same windows the brave men who flew these planes looked out. We got imagine what it might have been like to be in this plane, flying into war.
It was sobering. I am so thankful my children got to have this personal experience with this piece of history. It is a sad time in our history but still one we need to remember.
We will always be thankful for the sacrifice made by many young men.
